International Trends and Services
The mission of the International Trends and Services facet is to expand the global platform for programs designed and developed to service the educational, health and cultural needs of people of African descent throughout the world. All components of the program are delivered through measurable and sustainable service delivery methods that reach women and their families.
The foremost goal of the ITS facet is to provide opportunities for tangible service in other countries. The approach provides for more personalized methods for assisting and improving the lives of women, children and men worldwide through long-term programs committed to empowerment and public policy leadership in advocating for social justice.
In our chapter, we developed a relationship with a school in Liberia. We established regular points of communication via Skype and letter writing between the Liberian children and children in our local service area. They entertained questions from each other and were able to learn about each other’s culture via direct visual and audio contact.
Currently, our Girls STEAM Academy is participating in a program we developed called the Passport Journey. This project promotes the importance of travel and exploration beyond our communities. Through research and team collaboration, the girls will be exposed to five countries- learning about the countries’ geography, economy, culture and much more. They will ultimately put together a project to address a social need or help to support a philanthropic program in their country of choice.
