The Queen City (OH) Links chapter of The Links, Incorporated proudly champions the Services to Youth program, dedicating to uplifting and inspiring black youth through educational and developmental programs.
The TWO WOMEN envisioned an organization that would respond to the
NEEDS AND ASPIRATIONS OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN in ways that existing clubs did not.
Drawing inspiration from Marian Wright Edelman, we emphasize the importance of investing in youth. Our initiatives aim to lead positive change, ensuring academic success and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Our chapter implements transformative programs to meet diverse needs: academic excellence, health, cultural awareness, social development, career growth, and mentorship. These efforts aim to prepare youth as healthy citizens in a global workforce.
We strive to close the achievement gap from pre-K through college and develop mentoring programs. Our focus extends to expanding STEM education and supporting historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) for sustainable youth advancement.
Our Services to Youth are exemplified by our commitment to enriching and enhancing the lives of black youth, addressing both immediate and long-term needs.
Launched in 2014 for 6th and 7th graders, the Girls STEAM Academy now includes 47 girls from 10 area schools in its transformative journey. Focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, the program enhances STEAM proficiency and cultivates leadership and critical skills.
Beyond STEAM, the academy fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, and effective communication. Our STEAM programming is dedicated to guiding young ladies through these subjects, from middle school to college, nurturing confident leaders and scholarly young ladies.
